“It is alleged that the uncle assaulted his 25-year-old niece (who is his girlfriend) at Usindiso Shelter, [on the] corner Albert and Delvers Street, March 18, 2022, early morning. The victim was having fun with some of his cousins when [he] came and ordered him to go to sleep.
“He dragged her to their bedroom, where he assaulted her with a metal baton, burned her with a hot two-plate stove and strangled her until she passed out,” said police spokesman Captain Xoli Mbele.
Mbele added that the woman’s cousin saved her.
She couldn’t see for eight days because of her injuries.
