As if that weren’t exciting enough, cult New York streetwear brand KidSuper is coming to Johannesburg on Wednesday to create a range of t-shirts with Kombonation, made up of the Soweto photographer / designer duo Kananelo Kabelo Sello and Kgotso Selomah. .

KidSuper currently wants to show this collaboration – and potentially an extension – in New York City during its exhibition.

It’s a dream come true for Kombonation as much of their work has been inspired by KidSuper.

Sello and Selomah, graduates of the Market Photography Workshop, founded Kombonation in 2018.

It is a Soweto-based pre-to-post-production start-up specializing in real and raw visual storytelling.

Sello and Selomah also create clothing that showcases their photographic skills and expresses the narratives that exist within and beyond their imagery. Their dress, their events and their performances are by the kasi, for the kasi – and beyond.

“Honestly, we offered the Night Embassy Johannesburg team at length to get KidSuper aboard Kaofela Kaofela so that we could really explore Kasi and local brands by branching out beyond just ‘drip’. Kombonation got way more than they bargained for with KidSuper even taking this line and the ambassador duo to New York in 2022 for their show! said Selomah

At 30, KidSuper has grown into a cultural phenomenon – designer, artist, athlete, producer, trendsetter. Within a few years, he took over the fashion torch, designing for Sean Mendes, Russ, Lil Nas X, Ed Sheeran, J Balvin, Puma, Steve Aoiki and more. The only thing more impressive than KidSuper’s LVMH Karl Lagerfeld Award is his ability to predict the next trend, his unconventional approach to art and design, dedication to his friends and fans and his overall affinity for Jägermeister.

Jägermeister has been incorporated into all of his events and celebratory moments over the past few years, including his very first Art Show, his birthday / Halloween party with ASAP Rocky and Paris Fashion Week.

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Kombonation will host the kasi night experience of a lifetime – Kaofela Kaofela, where you can enjoy exhibitions, fashion, photography, lectures, games, street sports, performances and DJ sets that influence the conviviality lifestyle, ekasi. Tickets for this edition of Night Embassy Johannesburg by Jägermeister cost R50 for a day pass.

The Kombonation Residence is called “Kaofela, Kaofela” because the saying “together we can do more” is part of the moral code of Kombonation. “We are a collaborative effort, so we hold unity in the community in high regard. We believe our dream can only come true if our community, our fans and society at large understand that this is about of a joint effort, ”Sello said.

“At the White House in Soweto, we will be exhibiting the visual and performing arts of our community, with the incorporation of street cultural elements such as clothing and street sports that influence the lifestyle of conviviality, ekasi, ”explained Selomah.

“From a Kombonation Kollexion fashion show to discussions with special guests who influence urban culture in creativity, sport and entertainment, we will cultivate an atmosphere of friendliness this endlessly festive season,” adds Selomah.

The events will be hosted by Kaymo ke Superstar and Leighnah. Hip hop, dancehall, soul and Amapiano DJs and artists will perform on the White House stage.
