08 Mar 2011, 23:00

The Africa i-Parliament Action Plan is planning a series of localisation workshops to be carried during the months of May and June 2011. The workshops will be hosted by different parliaments and convened in different groupings according to language and regions.

The workshop intends to make a detailed presentation of both Bungeni and Akoma Ntoso and collect the specific requirements of individual parliaments to then be in a position to finalise at a later stage the localisation of the Bungeni Portals work-flow as well as Akoma Ntoso schemas and the BungeniEditor. It is aimed principally at Senior Managerial Staff of Parliament with a deep understanding of the parliamentary work -flow and documentation and the IT Systems Analysts from these assemblies. Other participants may include other relevant stakeholders working on making available online parliamentary and legislative information in Africa.

The workshops have the following objectives:

  • provide participants with a detailed appreciation of functionality of Bungeni portal and features of Akoma Ntoso schemas
  • discuss and collect from the different parliament a detailed list of localization requirements for the BungeniPortal and Akoma Ntoso schema to meet the specific needs of different African Parliaments
  • discuss a tentative plan of action for the deployment and population of the system and conversation of existing documents in XML
  • promote a community of practice under APKN to build capacity and mutual support in order to better sustain the deployment of Bungeni and adoption of Akoma Ntoso.

The dates of the workshops will be published as soon as the logical issues will be finalised.
